RE: Dump Valve Leakage

Our HTTTH has been used for over 40,000 miles to date and we get NO leakage. Never even a drop.

Whining about gas prices? Wifes solution WORKED!

We often take the same route from Colorado to the east coast almost every year. Wife keeps track of gas cost, etc, each time. We always towed at 63 mph on interstate, or 5 mph over limit on other roads.
This trip we did everything the same, EXCEPT, we used a maximum speed of 55 mph. Took very slightly longer to do the trip, but THE COST OF GAS FOR THE TRIP WAS THE SAME AS LAST YEAR.
So if the price of gas is getting you down, try slowing down. I admit I was amazed!

RE: Buying gas in Canada

We do not use a debit card, but our USA credit card has worked at every pump so far. Been in Atlantic Canada (PEI, Nova Scotia, and now Newfoundland) since end of June.

RE: Camping while hitched up

We do that all the time. We do lower the tongue jack to take some load off the TV rear suspension. We also disconnect the cord between TV and TT, so we are sure not to discharge the TV battery. Some vehicles have an auto disconnect, but MANY do not. Ours doesn't auto disconnect.

RE: Uneven Tire Wear

IMO go to a SEMI truck alignment shop and get it checked. If out, they can usually fix it. Note car alignment places usually have no clue.

RE: Hitch Extension

You are almost doubling the extension for the receiver (most are spec'd 10" ball to hitch pin). Thus IMO you need a receiver spec of 18,000 pounds pull, and well over 2000# tongue weight capability. Your call.

RE: pressure rating on new trailer tires

As Jim says, read up and decide. We've put over 160,000 miles on various ST tires to date with no issues (well did get a nail hole patched once), but we've never used Chinese tires. Maybe just luck, but it works for us. Current tires are ST205/75R15's.

RE: 92 bounder that stalls in traffic when hot

Can't say about A/C.
On engine, if only happens when hot, are you using gas with booze in it? Could be vapor lock. Try to avoid ethanol if possible. Only other idea I have is maybe fuel filter or fuel pump? Maybe?
Just my guessing.

RE: why Equal-I-zer WDH?

We love ours. WDH with built in sway control. Never a wiggle on ours. I bought it instead of Reese Dual Cam as I have bad back and perceived it to be MUCH easier to hook and unhook --- as long as you ALSO have an electric tongue jack so NO LIFTING is required to slide bars on/off.

RE: Storage question

Your choice. We store ours with stabilizers DOWN as it is MUCH more stable in the wind.

RE: Severe back pain

IMO see a chiropractor. They sure help me when my back gets screwed up. I look for Palmer graduates, but whatever IMO make sure they have been to school. In some states I've been told anyone can call themselves a chiropractor, even if they were flipping burgers the day before.

RE: Stuck Water Check Valve

Or buy a garden hose shutoff in any hardware store and screw it on. We did that several years ago, and it is still working fine.

RE: Electric hookup

We have a 30 amp rig, and have had to use a 50-30 adapter more than once because only 50 amp outlet was available. Note many post above use words like "most" or "usually". So how much of a gambler are you? I carry all adapters I can use, and have used them all at one time or another.

RE: Help choosing a hitch weight range

GVWR = 8000#. Desired tongue weight target = 13%. So IMO perfect WD hitch is 1,040#. Yours is 1,000# for an error of 4%. If it was mine, I'd keep the 1000# hitch.

RE: Water regulators

You can do as you wish, obviously, but ignore the post saying the cheap regulators only change flow. That is totally wrong. The cheap regulators maintain pressure just as well as the expensive ones. What the cheap ones don't do is allow the same VOLUME of flow. The protection level is the same with both.
We have spent time in several campgrounds which had pressure over 100 psi. Our cheap regulator never allowed any damage to our plumbing. Several other campers, who ignored the warning sign at checkin and did not use as regulator, had significant plumbing damage.

RE: Tired of Tires

I had a valve stem just fall apart on TT spare. Fortunately I had tires balanced and metal valve stems installed when we purchased TT, just never did spare. Now do spares also.

RE: Tires???

$50 a tire is a great deal ... if they are not made in China. Just my opinion.
I replace tires after 7 years personally.
